By using our sites you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

1. Who we are

2. Other terms that apply

  • Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal information, and our Cookie Policy explains the cookies on our sites.
  • If you buy anything from us (a membership, subscription, course or advertising), the terms shown when you buy also apply. Where they conflict with these terms, they take priority.
  • If you submit content for publication, our Terms for Content Submission also apply.

3. Using our sites

Our sites are free to read unless a page says otherwise. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of them without notice, and we do not guarantee they will always be available or free from errors.

Our content is published for general information. It is not professional, legal, financial, medical or careers advice, and you should take advice suited to your circumstances before acting on it. Views expressed by contributors are their own.

4. Sponsored and advertising content

Some content is produced with, or paid for by, a sponsor or advertiser: sponsored articles, white papers, reports, webinars and newsletter features. We label it as sponsored, or name the sponsor. When a download or registration form names a sponsor, the details you give on that form are passed to the sponsor, as explained in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the products or services of advertisers or sponsors.

5. Intellectual property

We, or our licensors, own the copyright and other rights in our sites and their content. You may view, print or download content for your own use. You may also share links, or short extracts with a link and credit, within your organisation. You must not republish, sell, scrape or systematically copy our content, or use it to train artificial intelligence systems, without our written permission.

6. Your account

If you create an account, keep your login details confidential and tell us promptly if you think someone else is using them. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.

7. What you post

If you post a comment, review, directory listing or other content, you must make sure it is accurate where it states facts, that you have the right to post it, and that it is not unlawful, defamatory, offensive, misleading or an infringement of anyone’s rights. You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, edit for length and clarity, and distribute it in connection with our sites and publications. We may remove anything that, in our reasonable view, breaks these terms.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use our sites unlawfully or fraudulently. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, introduce malicious code, overload our sites, or use automated means to access or copy them beyond normal search-engine indexing.

9. Links to other sites

We link to other websites for your information. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices.

10. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

If you use our sites for business purposes, we are not liable for any loss of profit, sales, business, revenue, business opportunity, goodwill or reputation, or for any indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of, or inability to use, our sites or their content.

If you use our sites as a consumer, we provide them for domestic and private use only, and you have the rights that consumer law gives you. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version on this page applies from the date shown at the top.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
